OUR NEW BREAKFAST NOOK (August 2007)

BACK

The marvelous craftsman who designed and built this gem is Paul Davis, who also did our fireplace surround *and* the top of the dining room hutch *and* the patio cover *and* the creative cat box solution, and a few other misc. projects around the house. Paul is leaving the San Jose area in September to go to San Diego to get a degree in architecture. We're sad he's leaving, but we will be glad to say, some day, "We knew him BEFORE he became the famous architect of green design!"
Believe it or not -- this is the same area of the kitchen. The big French doors went away and were replaced by the door-window combination. And the breakfast nook was added! Amazing!
The old fashioned radio is battery powered so we don't have to worry about plugging it in. See the shelving on the back of the bench on the left? Details in a photo below. [We painted the wall after this was taken to provide more contrast with the light maple wood used for the breaksfast nook. See above.]

The leaf allows for one more person to sit at the table.
Note the details that fit the bench back up against the baseboard and the details on the legs.
