Although the official name of my business is Superior Office Support, I have earned the nickname The Software Dominatrix because my motto has always been: "I will make your software obey!"
Since the mid-1980s, I have been providing secretarial and administrative support, and technical support and training to mostly local law offices.
I have worked with over 100 law firms in the San Francisco Bay Area, from sole practitioners to firms that fill several floors of a building and have branches in other cities.
I've worked with long-established firms, and I've helped set up new firms from scratch.
I've worked with groups of attorneys who are joining forces, helping them to combine their offices, convert their software, and get disparate technologies to work together.
I have a few clients I have never actually met, and I have never set foot in their offices. My services and products were installed and managed via email and phone!
I also have a wide variety of non-legal clients, including a dog groomer, several real estate agents, a wedding photographer, and a gardening service.
I was trained as a teacher and taught in public schools for the first 8 years after college, before moving to the legal field. I have decades of experience teaching people to use the software packages commonly used in offices. Too many offices install software and never provide training for the users. The staff has work that has to get out the door, and doesn't have time to learn the best way, the quickest way, or the most efficient way to produce that work. I provide many levels of training in Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect; TimeMatter, Abasuc, and Amicus; Judicial Council Court Forms and Timeslips.
I have a good foundation in a wide range of the law: litigation, personal injury, transaction, real estate, family law, estate planning, and probate, so I often fill in for secretaries, paralegals, and legal assistants who are on vacation, on an extended leave, or who have left the firm.
I also build templates, create pop-up and pull-down menus, and write macro packages to increase efficiency. Why hunt for documents? I can design a pop-up menu that puts the most commonly used forms at your fingertips.
